There’s a brightness in the air of Tolima’s highland plains, where clouds drift low across mountain ridges and sunlight slips gently through the mist. It is here that Colombia Planadas takes root, in living volcanic soil that lends depth, clarity, and a quiet elegance to every bean. Farmers here honor the land with regenerative practices, no chemicals, no synthetic fertilizers, no pesticides, and no tilling of the earth. Instead, the soil is left alive, a thriving ecosystem that nurtures each coffee tree naturally, allowing sweetness and vibrancy to develop long before harvest.
Through the precision of our proprietary Culinary Roast™, Planadas opens like the first bite of fruit on a summer morning. Crisp Gala apple greets the palate, followed by a lift of citrus that shimmers with brightness. The cup settles gracefully into the silky comfort of milk chocolate, a lingering sweetness that feels both familiar and indulgent, like the last bite of a favorite dessert.
Colombia Planadas is 100% Regenerative Organic Certified, USDA Organic Certified, and Fair Trade Certified as well as Kosher.

A great, smooth, balanced taste. Excellent for pour over.
smooth and flavorful
About 10 years ago, I was at a boutique coffee shop in Seattle, and I had this amazing light roast that changed my perception of how good coffee could be.
It was bright, fruity, and just a bit sweet but all perfectly balanced. Because I had mostly drank medium-dark roasts, I had assumed that this was what light roasts from little coffee shops tasted like, and so for 10 years, I've almost exclusively drank light roasts, always searching for that same experience.
However, I found them all to be too sour or imbalanced. They just always disappointed to the point where I have started to question whether I do actually light roasts.
That was the case, until Heirloom.
My wife got us a subscription, and I will say confidently that they produce the best coffee beans we've ever bought. I feel we've found our place.
However, this specific bean, the Columbia Planada is a whole different level...this is the exultant experience I've been searching for the last 10 years, a balanced, fruity, sweet, and bright roast that tastes like if a yummy Gamay decided it needed to go and turn itself into a light brew.
I have tried beans from hundreds of roasters throughout the years. Colombia Planadas is outstanding. I will continue to purchase this bean.
However, for serious coffee drinkers, the "roasted on" date is one of the most important pieces of information (to ensure maximum freshness, optimal flavor, and proper degassing). Varietal differences can be important in determining the peak flavor window. Part of the equation is the roasting date. Please consider adding a "roasted on" date rather than a "Best if used by" date.
Outstanding coffee! Highly recommended.
Great tasting coffee
